Go See Hear In L.A. Jan. 19-25 (The Ben Miller/Andrew Bird Edition)

Well, I had to take a hiatus due to juggling too many things, but here is a rundown of at least some of this week’s worthwhile shows.

Mon. 1/19

Melanie Delaney, who has a great balance of grittiness and gracefulness, plays at Pasadena’s Old Towne Pub.

Tues. 1/20

Local troubadour Tom Freund plays the Mint adjacent Mid-City Lounge for an intimate, acoustic show.

Wed. 1/21

Top Show: The Ben Miller Band’s Any Way, Shape or Form was one of my favorites last year. They’ll serve up their burly acoustic music to the Mint.

The always interesting Andrew Bird lands at Largo, while Lauren Shera has a set at the Hotel Café. The Vancouver-based psych-pop outfit Sprïng has a show at the Silverlake Lounge and returns to town on the 24th with a Perhspace gig.

Fri. 1/23

Top Show: It’ll be an intriguing night of music at McCabe’s as they host The McCombs Skiffle Group (featuring Cass McCombs and Farmer Dave Scher).

Actress/musician Alicia Witt plays the Hotel Café. Eric Johnson and Mike Stern share the bill at the Regent Theater. U.K.’s The Wombats will be rocking the Bootleg  HiFi.

Sun. 1/25

New Romantics veterans Spandau Ballet headline the Wiltern. Hank McFee is a duo featuring Hank Linderman and John McFee. They’ll be at McCabe’s.
