Go See Hear In L.A. Jan. 3-5 (the Gene Taylor/Rosemary Butler weekend edition)

Hope you all have a fun holiday time and let’s keep the good times rolling in 2014.

Jan. 3

The newgrass-y Susie Glaze & The Hilonesone Band, who will be hosting “The Woodshed Sessions” at the Coffee Gallery Backstage the first Friday of every month, and this month Shaun Cromwell will be their guest.

Jan. 4

Gene Taylor used to pound the ivories in the Blasters, back in the early days. He’ll bring his blues band to McCabe’s on Saturday night. Another vet bluesman, Jim Kweskin (a blues/folk pioneer since the early ‘60s) will be performing at the Coffee Gallery Backstage with the Crockett Sisters Band.

Jan. 5

It’s Elvis’ birthday and the Echo will be rocking with Presley music as Lisa Finnie, the Groovy Rednecks, Jimmy Angel, Rod McKuen and Gene Taylor are among the scheduled performers. If there were a Laurel Canyon version of 20 Feet From Stardom, then Rosemary Butler would be one of its stars. Butler’s vocal graced albums by Jackson Browne, Linda Rondstadt, James Taylor, Warren Zevon, Bonnie Raitt and more. She’ll have a rare show at McCabe’s.
