New Old Releases from new AMA Awards Winners Yoakam and Shovels & Rope

Last week at the Americana Music Awards, Dwight Yoakam was named Artist of the Year while Shovels & Rope named Song of the Year and Emerging Artist of the Year honors. Both acts now have something else in common – upcoming releases of older material.

On October 1, New West Records will put out a new Dwight Yoakam compilation, 21st Century Hits: Best of 2000-12. This 14-track set contains selections from his last Reprise album Tomorrow’s Sounds Today, his Koch/Audium release Population Me, his New West CDs and his recent Warners return 3 Pears. – plus a previously unreleased collaboration with Michelle Branch (“Long Goodbye”) and his version of “Crazy Little Thing Called Love,” from the Break-Up Soundtrack.

Shovels & Rope fans will “o be joyful” to learn that the duo’s self-tilted 2008 debut will be put out on vinyl on Nov. 26 by Dualtone release (although there will be a CD copy of the album too).
