The Ghost Brothers, The Alvin Brothers, a King and Taj Mahal

Is the Stephen King/John Mellencamp/T Bone Burnett musical The Ghost Brothers of Darkland County good? I can’t say since I haven’t seen it.

Is the soundtrack worth listening to? Hell, yes. Any album that includes performances by Elvis Costello, Neko Case, Sheryl Crow, Ryan Bingham, Kris Kristofferson, Taj Mahal, Rosanne Cash, John Mellencamp and both Alvin brothers is something to hear.

This Yep Roc release pairs the audio CD (which also includes the voice work of actors Matthew McConaughey, Samantha Mathis and Meg Ryan) with a DVD featuring a “making of” documentary and a video of Mellencamp’s in-studio recording of the disc’s closing number “Truth.”

It’s available at the Yep Roc’s web-store,
