Can Your Singing Impress Neil Young?

On June 5, Neil Young will be releasing his first album with Crazy Horse in nine years. True to Neil’s idiosyncratic spirit, it won’t be like any other Young/Crazy Heart collaboration. Americana will feature their takes on a set of traditional folk tunes. Songs include such standards  as”Oh Susannah,” “Clementine” and “This Land Is Your Land,” but you can expect Young won’t do it in a standard way.

Young also is involved in an interesting contest, tied into this album’s release. He has teamed up the social media gurus Talenthouse to invite musicians to do their own version of one of the Americana tunes for the opportunity to win up to $1000 and receive promotion on Young’s social media channels. Submissions can be viewed on YouTube and the public can vote their choice, while Young will vote for his.

The contest is currently open and the entry deadline is June 4 (yes, the day before Americana comes out).
