Merv-alous News: Reelin’ In The Years will be licensing Merv Griffin Show footage

Without getting into details, I remember Arthur Treacher before his name was on a fast food fish & chip chain – and if you don’t know this restaurant chain…well that’s another history lesson. Treacher, in the last ‘60s, was the Ed McMahon for Merv Griffin. I mention all of this because I learned that the Merv Griffin Show archives now has a licensing deal with Reelin’ In The Years Productions. RITY has put together a number of really good documentaries over the years with one of my particular favorites being their British Invasion series. I am curious to see what they do with the Griffin footage. The show’s website features a sampler of appearances from Steve Martin, Dolly Parton, Blue Oyster Cult, Woody Allen, Whitney Houston and Martin Luther King, Jr. Not many shows have that range of guests. I didn’t see any footage of Treacher or Mrs. Miller (google her when you have the chance). So, keep an eye out for what RITY might put together from the old Merv shows.
