Go See Hear in L.A. March 13-18 (the Drive-By Truckers-Raincoats edition)

Just a quick run-through this week as I am running behind on so many things (don’t ask). Anyway, for those not spending their week in Austin for SxSW, here are a few show on my radar.

Punk pioneers the Raincoats will be at the Echoplex on Tuesday the 13th. I heard their deconstructed version of “Lola” again the other day and remembered just how unique they were/are.

Another resurrected band, Spanky & Our Gang (featuring original singer Elaine ‘Spanky’ McFarlane as well as Steely Dan guitarist Denny Dias) will be at the Coffee Gallery Backstage Wednesday and Thursday.  Also on the Thursday night is a Drive-By Truckers show at the House of Blues. They are one of the top Americana rock bands on disc and on stage, but do I really need to tell you that?

Friday finds the Portland-based singer-songwriter Justin Jude at Room 5, while Carina Round (who is part of the wonderful Early Winters among other projects) has a solo show at Riverside’s Fox Performing Arts Center.
