The Yardbirds & Vanilla Fudge: A Great Concert – For 1966

News came through the Internet that the Yardbirds and Vanilla Fudge will be touring the Northeast in February. Back in the day, they were both significant bands with merged blues and rock with a doses of psychedelica.

Of course, those days were long ago. This incarnation features only the original drummer Jim McCarty. No Jeff Beck. No Eric Clapton. No Jimmy Page. No surprises there. Chris Dreja was to play but he is recuperating from an illness (and hopefully he will in good health soon). The Vanilla Fudge boasts three of its four original members: organist Mark Stein, guitarist Vince Martell and drummer Carmen Appice. So the concerts could be an interesting showcase for two legendary rock drummers (Appice and McCarty).

Today's Vanilla Fudge

One bit of trivia – Appice was in a post-VF band with Fudge bassist Tim Bogart and one-time Yardbird guitarist Jeff Beck.

Here are their tour dates.

2/1/12 – Buffalo, NY – The Tralf

2/3/12 – New York, NY – Irving Plaza

2/4/12 – Glenside, PA – Keswick Theatre

2/8/12 – Tarrytown, NY – Tarrytown Music Hall

2/9/12 – New Brunswick, NJ – State Theatre
