Any chance to see a Buster Keaton comedy on a big screen is one not to pass up lightly. Which is why I wanted to spread the word that this year’s New York Guitar Festival will be offering a unique tribute to the comic genius. They have gotten a number of notable guitarist to create new soundtracks to these old films. 11 Keaton will be screened and Dan Zanes, Lee Ranaldo, Keller Williams and Kaki King are among the guitarists. It should make for an interesting “collaboration” between music and movies.
The Festival also will have a tributes to Brian Eno and Jim Hall as well as a whole lot of fancy fretwork.
The NYGF will be happening from Jan. 6-29 at various sites around New York City. For more info, visit www.newyorkguitarfestival.org/
