Big Big Star News

Those fine folks at Omnivore Recordings have a big special offering to celebrate the opening of their web store.

They have done a limited edition of Big Star’s Third album on clear vinyl. Big Big Star fans will remember that Omnivore created a similar test pressing edition of this album for Record Store Day, but that was on traditional black vinyl.

Later this month, Omnivore will be re-issuing Richard Thompson’s Strict Tempo! album, marking its 30th anniversary.

Omnivore has several other titles out now – like the Motels, Leon Russell and a Ken Kesey’s documentary soundtrack. However, my favorite is Darondo, an obscure Oakland soul man from the ‘70s, with a really groovy sound that draws upon both Al Green and Sly Stone.
