One addition for this week: Kimbra

Just wanted to pop back in with a new pop singer who I learned about today. Her name is Kimbra and she’s from New Zealand. However, her soulful dance pop music bears some influence from the current crop of British blue-eyed songstresses. On the mono-named singer scale, Kimba is somewhere between Adele and Duffy. Kimbra also exhibits some nice quirkiness and doesn’t seemed trapped in the neo-soul sound. I have only listened to a few tunes on YouTube but they impressed me enough to take the time to point out that she has a show at the Satellite on the 18th with an Australian singer named Goyte (another person to Google). Here’s a link to Kimbra’s video for “Cameo Lover,”

Warner Bros. Records is introducing the 21-year-old via an EP, entitled Settle Down, that comes out on the 18th as well.
