Let’s Not Forget Dan Stuart

I just discovered that Dan Stuart has a show at the Bootleg on Oct. 8. Dan Stuart, you might ask? To L.A. music fans of a certain age, or just fans of the “paisley underground,” Stuart needs no introduction. For others, here’s a brief one. Stuart led the psychedelic-tinged wild roots rock band Green On Red, which also featured guitarist Chuck Prophet and bassist Jack Waterson, who will be playing with Stuart at the Bootleg. Check out their albums, Gravity Talks, Gas Food Lodging and Here Comes The Snakes. Stuart later formed a partnership with Dream Syndicate’s Steve Wynn as Danny and Dusty. I happen to enjoy their woozy modern western music a little more than Green On Red’s, but that’s just me. Stuart seems to have been off the radar in recent years but here’s a chance to see what he has been up.
