So yesterday, word was released that EMI Classics will be putting out an album entitled Fifty Shades of Grey – The Classical Album. In case you are wondering, it is a 15-track disc of classical music curated by Fifty Shades author E.L. James. This compilation features Rachmaninoff, Debussy, Chopin, Verdi, several Bach pieces, Pacheibel‘s Canon and more. It isn’t clear where you’re supposed to listen to it with earbuds while reading the book on your e-reader.
I’m sure what an odder CD tie-in/cash-in has been - but nothing comes to mind. Any thoughts?
Another music-related headline today, and sadder for different reasons, was the news of Randy Travis‘ arrest. He allegedly walked naked into a North Texas convenience store wanting to buying cigarettes. Travis was later arrived after a car crash. He was characterized as acting belligerently to the police and (surprise, surprise) declined doing a blood and breath test. This apparently is his second arrest of the year (reports state that he was arrested for public intoxication in February). Below is his Grayson County Sheriff’s Department mug shot.
Next time, back to the music.
